Aysanabee at River and Sky Festival, photo by Will McGuirk

Aysanabee plays Biltmore Theatre Oct 20, opens for Dan Mangan

Will McGuirk October 19, 2023

Although someone has to go first the Dan Mangan/ Aysanabee show at the Biltmore Theatre Friday Oct 20 2023, is essentially a double headliner bill. Mangan has his own career obv, and is on the road celebrating 20 years of it, however, Asyaanabee, an Oji-Cree singer-songwriter, has his own highly anticipated record, a six song EP, ‘Here and Now’, dropping Oct 20 on Ishkōdé Records. Plus he just won Recording Artist of the Year at the 2023 Ontario Folk Music Award, held last weekend in London, ON., and has been short-listed for the 2023 Polaris Prize for his debut ‘Watin’ as well as been nominated for a JUNO, and Aysanabee is the first Indigenous artist to hit Number 1 on Mediabase Canada's Alternative Rock chart.

Aysanabee has played Springtide in Uxbridge and closed out Saturday night main stage at this year’s River & Sky Festival, a superb show in a forest under the moonlight, a mix of stirring gospel intimacy and emotional anthems, kept thinking of Hozier or our pal Rory Taillon.

Great stuff, you should go. Tickets here.
