What's on Oshawa Nov 1 - 5

Will McGuirk October 31, 2023

By Will McGuirk

Slim pickings on the ground in Oshawa this week with a trail of tribute acts filling up the halls. Western Canada and k.d. lang endorsed country singer/songwriter Mariel Buckley is in at the Biltmore Theatre Sunday Nov 5 2023. Western Durham Region-based country singer/songwriter Patrick Dorie will open. Dorie has been keeping a low profile for some time now, hopefully woodshedding new material which will get an airing at the Buckley show.

Buckley is touring her own new album, ‘Everywhere I Used to Be’, across Canada and down through the States. The record was in part inspired by her time working in a record store, listening to a myriad of genres as one does. Fans of Kathleen Edwards, and the aforementioned k.d., of course.

I’ve little info on Squid Lid at the Diesel Room aka Nexus Saturday Nov 4 other than it’s organised by Chris Trubela who has yet to disappoint on anything he creates so yes to Squid Lid I think.

Downstairs in the Atria there’s Xero Tolerance, CNTRL, and Incarnatus and on Friday the Atria has Hollow Core, ByOctopi, Skeleton Lake, and Tears of a Diety.
