Incoming Sun

Everything you wanted to know about Incoming Sun, play Local Lounge May 31

Will McGuirk May 29, 2024

On the somewhat eve of a Kops Records Instore but Outstore with Brooklin based rock n rollers Incoming Sun, Slowcity.ca figured, well, lets get to know this band a bit so questions sent and a commendably swift return response

Incoming Sun are playing at the Local Lounge in Bond|St Events Friday May 31. Evan Rotella is on the bill. Evan has played a Kops Records instore but instore. Incoming Sun are Lauren: Vocals, Sam: Bass, Ahyan: Guitar, Hunter: Guitar, and Lochlan: Drums.

Drummer Lochlan Pritchard tells the tale:

“We all met in elementary school in Grades 1-3, each of us had been involved with music on their own time, getting lessons and teaching ourselves. In the early days of grade 8, the boys had the idea to mix our talents and create a band. Shortly after, we realized a band of loud and crazy boys would be mellowed out and sound better with a singer, we asked our good friend Lauren, who had been an experienced singer already. Luckily our band entitled “The Risk” at the moment performed their first live gig at The Joint in Brooklin right at the end of COVID, leaving us with more time to rehearse and perform. However, practicing on our own time during COVID (pre-band) was tricky (didn’t get to collaborate with other musicians as much) but also good (had a lot of free time at home to practice and excel at our instruments)

Incoming Sun has original music in the works written equally by all of the members to a degree. However, inside Incoming Sun, members Hunter (Guitar), Sam (Bass), and Lochlan (Drums) have their own band and album consisting of 11 original songs written for a school project. That band is entitled Brooklin, with one debut album named “Sketchbook”. The biggest influences on the music we write, cover, and perform as a band include The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, and Taylor Swift. These artists are the artists that we have been compared to most and have been influenced by most. We love making people happy with the music that we share with the world.

We have performed at places like Drums and Flats (Ajax), The Atria (Oshawa), The Joint (Brooklin), The Brooklin Pub (Brooklin), Brooklin High School, Nookies Bar & Grill (Oshawa), Upper Canada College, The Edge (Ajax)”
