River and Sky, the little fest that could, takes place in Field ON., north of Sturgeon Falls and this fest is one of my favourite weekends in the year. This 2025 edition takes place July 24 to July 27. I’ve been attending and covering for over a decade and each installment is unique and yet part of a flow. It’s run by a group of Northern Ontario activists and artists and very much a place of joy and inclusivity. Plus there’s saunas and a river duh! and a beach and a great line-up which this year includes indie electro-postpunkers Preoccupations (which has roots and branches in Women, Viet Cong and Cindy Lee) headlining the Saturday night.
Also among the acts playing; By Divine Right on Sunday, Casper Skulls as well as Shub, a Mohawk member of the Six Nations of the Grand River on Friday.
