Springtide Music Fest share full line-up; Elliott Brood, Jerry Leger, and Ellevator added

Will McGuirk June 14, 2022

By Will McGuirk

Well well Springtide Music Fest just gets better and bigger. And lets not forget the community of Uxbridge, host to the fest, has been hit hard by the recent tornado touchdown, including a key venue, the Second Wedge Brewery, . But as befits the trail capital of Canada the music community et al are blazing a trail out of the destruction with the power of creation.

The three day festival taking place July 21, 22, and 23, has moved the main outdoor area from the Wedge to Centennial Park. While the fest features the return of Bedouin Soundclash, as well as other notables, Elliott Brood, Julian Taylor, Danny Michel, among them, there is also a very broad selection of acts from the area, many of whom were regular players at the brewery, including Rory Taillon, Matt Gunn, Mattie Leon, Brooklyn Doran, Tania Joy, EDITH, Hollowsage and the Three Mile Islanders, Wooly, and Cassie Noble.

Tickets here.

Chastity with Badflower, Born Ruffians, Ellevator, plus more announced for Stage 44

Will McGuirk February 14, 2022

By Will McGuirk

Stage 44 has begun announcing shows for the coming months which is all great news as there have been construction delays as well as the fallout of Covid-19 guidelines. The building, located at 44 Bond Street in Oshawa, was once home to the infamous Dungeon but has been converted in the past year or so into two venues; one on the main floor and one back in the basement.

Indie rockers Born Ruffians are booked for March 24, 2022 and indie folksters The Franklin Electric are coming in April 22. Hamilton trio Ellevator are scheduled in for May 20. In between on May 7 Los Angelenos Badflower with opener, local lad Chastity, who spent some formative years in that building down in the Dungeon.

Every morning one must rise and with the weight of the blanket, as heavy as the ocean upon your shoulders, emerge from the trusted night into the blinding blur of the day.

“. . . in an era of young women’s voices being tightly managed by company men Kate remained an iconoclast. She was unafraid to tackle topics like murder, religion, incest and homosexuality in her work” - Ellevator

“It’s about watching someone try and change who they are to make you happy.” - Sam Weber
