“We’re still here trying to make the best out of life. I mean, we gave up a lot of our culture and traditions, but we've also adopted a lot of beautiful things from other cultures, from other traditions. Sometimes I ask myself, ‘What am I? What does that make me?’” - qiyupaik

“I Know How”, is a prayer for redemption to the country music god of the dance floor: May one of these two left feet turn; To right this two-stepping wrong.” - Ghostkeeper

“This song is supposed to elicit a feeling of nostalgia in its listeners and remind them that social media has created a community of people who will never be fully satisfied. So, there is no point in creating for them. Create for you.” - Sam Casey

"Christmas Without You is a song about missing a loved one during the holidays, which I think most of us can relate to. I know this time of year brings back many joyful but bittersweet memories. For me, I find these kinds of songs comforting." - Jerry Leger

“I wrote this about the holiday season, watching yourself and your family get older, being present, and savoring the rare moments when everyone gets to be in the same room once a year.” - quinne

"It took me 2 years to finish this song and I am thrilled to finally share it with the world. I’m a huge fan of the Holidays and I hope this song brings joy during the celebration!" - Emi Jeen

“The lyrics to this song are quite literal. There are no hidden metaphors, it’s cut and dry. They capture a moment that I carry with me to this day.” - Logan Staats

“are you afraid? Are you ready? Do you have any sense of what's to come?”

Loss, its nibbling around the edges, biting, stalking, looming, this global so local, this so many down to just one, one life lived in one time, each one begats one, each one regrets one, each one meets one, and each one repeats. . . until silence.

***

“My grandmother, a grand storyteller her whole life, lost the ability to speak due to a severe stroke and has been living between the earthly and astral plane for some time. In this song I am coming to terms with this impending transition, loss. I am also asking my grandmother all the questions that I can't ask her in real life - are you afraid? Are you ready? Do you have any sense of what's to come? I am peeking into the future while keeping one eye on the past of my grandmother's storied life and reflecting on the profound impact her life has had on mine.” - Dana Sipos
