Some good news for Orillia today with the announcement of the Mariposa lineup. After a harsh winter so far of highway closures, fatalities, feet of snow dumped and a fire downtown the good folk of the town, the surrounding areas and fans of folk, both traditional and indie, in general can look forward to the summer with Iron and Wine, Waxahatchee, Ron Sexsmith, Jane Siberry, Elisapie, Serena Ryder, Hayden, and the Sheepdogs announced among so many others.
The festival takes place in Tudhope Park, on July 4 to 6 2025 and this is the 65 anniversary of the Grand Old Dame of folk festivals. Tickets are on sale here.
There is always some Durham Region representation at the fest. This year our pals Cuff The Duke are on the bill and My Son The Hurricane, with new member Sarah Fazackerley. Both Cuff and My Son have upcoming shows at the Biltmore Theatre in Oshawa. Happy to have multiple opportunities to see these fab bands. Last time I saw Cuff The Duke at Mariposa they were backing Hayden, and Hayden is also on the lineup so maybe that may be a thing again.
Good to see Vancamp also on the list and the Rock Plaza Central, thats a deep dive for sure. So yes good news day. Maybe see y’all there.
