JJ Miller releases ‘Broken Bells’ from new EP Hometown Believer

Will McGuirk February 12, 2025

By Will McGuirk

Alberta musician JJ Miller has a new song out, ‘Broken Bells’ and a video featuring Celeigh Cardinal and Brennan Cameron. The track is from his new EP Hometown Believer, due out February 27, 2025. Miller says in the PR he wanted a Wes Anderson/ Napoleon Dynamite mash-up but randomly the track itself is cinematic and totally draws out David Lynch Twin Peaks moody visuals. Like the soundtrack to a quiet walk in the woods not knowing the Windigo is watching. Even the story of the song is Lynchian

“Broken Bells is catchy, beautiful, and sad at the same time, and it’s all about my family’s (and my town’s) involvement in a multi-level marketing scheme called Amway during my childhood. The lyrics depict the vulnerability of people living in poverty.” - JJ Miller

Miller has drama too in his voice, this side of Rufus Wainwright. One to watch and hear for sure.
