Will McGuirk December 2, 2020

By Will McGuirk

Brothers and sisters, others and blisters do you recall the whole of it, the gatherings, the wondrous, the moments of us, the one of us all, it exists even outside of the concert hall, stay there, be as of that one, support the tumbling body surfer, let no one fail, let no one fall.

“On June 7, 2018 we played a very special show at London’s Royal Albert Hall. All the proceeds from that memorable night were donated to War Child UK in support of the vital work they do protecting, educating and rehabilitating children who have experienced the trauma of conflict and the horror of war. The situation that was bad in 2018 is now desperate and those children and their families need our help more than ever. To enable War Child UK to reduce their funding deficit and continue their valuable work, we are happy to be able to release a live album, recorded that evening at The Royal Albert Hall. All proceeds will go direct to the charity. We thank all our fans in advance for their support of this release and in turn for their support of War Child UK” ~ Arctic Monkeys.

"My exploration brings me to a body of water and a boat.
It’s cold to be on the water, moisture hangs in the air as the aged motor groans to life. The human experience continues - inputs & reactions. Basic computing. The temperature drops, the birds fly south. My interpretation of reality flickers and fades from one frame to the next. I throttle up the tired vessel and cruise, I can’t help but smile as my memories fall back to a place where I was seasoned at the helm of a pleasure craft. But those memories, impossible to place, are part of an intangible existence that I somehow find familiar. As though deep within my spirit I’ve been here. But no, I am lost and have been for as long as I can remember. Truly alone with my thoughts. I focus back on the frigid air and icy water. The pink & grey of my surroundings. So perfectly curated they surely come from the hand of a great engineer. Perhaps just as the experience is seemingly all a series of inputs and reactions, this existence has been designed and engineered. A simulation."

Take this moment and nail it to the wall. Take every moment and nail it to the wall. Not because its your last but because it isn’t and years from now you will look for it and it will be there for you to tear off and recall and smile.

Today we announced the nominees in the Oshawa Music Awards Best Songwriter category. We are working on the Apr 3 and 4 galas. At Kops we had Skye Wallace in and we have Hunter Sheridan and Robyn Ottolini coming in, all OMA nominees and we also have Tyler Ashton. Last week I was at the first Sewing Session held at Frere Du Nord in downtown Oshawa. Sponsored by Town Brewery the featured act was Tijuana Jesus. Quite sometime ago I was randomly crammed into a small gallery in TO for a show of Stew Jones and Chris Mills and it was one massive hug of thunder. I got that same vibe at the sewing factory and I see it with the OMAs and the listening room in the record store. Change is afoot, magic is afoot.

Soccer Mommy plays the Phoenix in Toronto Apr 8 2020.

“As a gay man, how could I have faith in a God, whose commandment is to stone me for who I love? It just didn’t add up. But as I a grew a little older and developed my own faith and my own truth, I realized that it was never God that I had an issue with, but rather the systems of faith and religion, as well as the systems of government. That’s what this song is about. This video is about that inner battle of finding the courage to love yourself and find your true self amongst the clutter of tradition that all of us are born into.” - Juwan Crawley

“Strange Habits” is inspired by the idea of making music with a completely free mindset – of course, that's impossible in real life.” - The Informations

Gear up for the Harvest, collect, gather, celebrate, embrace and then brace yourself for what is coming.

“to fall in love and blow away come what may my mind is made” - Reuben and the Dark

“While this is a very personal depiction of something I was moving through, it serves as a broad reminder that what’s on the surface doesn’t illustrate the whole picture of anybody. With the high-energy melody and bouncing riffs, I wanted to evoke the feeling of chaos when your anxious thoughts start to control you while you’re trying your best to keep up.” - Grizzly Coast

"Throughout a time of deep turmoil and sadness, I found myself in Nashville a lot, writing not just for myself but for other artists and for film and television. That city slowly began to really feel like home. Working there, making art there… really helped me heal a lot of the wounds that I had collected along the way in my life,” - Anna Rose
